33rd Parallel North Observation Deck

Located near the westernmost point of Sakito Island, surrounded by the sea, the 33rd Parallel North Observation Deck offers a view over the cliffs carved by waves and the vast waters of the Gotō Sea. Situated in Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture, this spot features an unobstructed panoramic vista named after the geographic characteristic of the 33rd parallel north line passing directly beneath it. Visitors often arrive here during drives to experience the sea breeze and the gradations of blue in the ocean.

Within the site, there is a monument marking the 33rd parallel north latitude, allowing visitors to visually grasp their position on the globe. On clear days, it is possible to see the silhouettes of the Gotō Islands on the distant horizon. People are sometimes seen quietly listening to the sound of the waves or standing with cameras to capture the changing light, spending time in a variety of ways while taking in both the monument and the surrounding scenery.
