Domtoren

Located within a theme park in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Domtoren is a tall, classical-style tower standing at the center of an area designed to evoke the atmosphere of an old European town. The tower’s large brick structure fits harmoniously with the surrounding architecture and serves as a navigational landmark for visitors exploring the expansive grounds.

Domtoren is visible from many points within the park, where visitors often pause to take photos of the tower against the backdrop of the themed streets. An elevator inside the building leads to an observation room on an upper floor, featuring large glass windows that offer panoramic views of the area.

During the day, the observation space provides a wide view of the calm blue waters of Omura Bay and the layout of the park’s European-style streets. At night, the illuminated grounds present a different scene, with lights creating a distinctive atmosphere. The views also change with the seasons, revealing various aspects of the expansive site from above. The tower’s observation room is used to take in these shifting landscapes, from daytime sunlight to the glow of night lighting.
