Kagamiyama Observatory

Kagamiyama Observatory is located at the summit of Mount Kagami in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. From this vantage point, visitors can see a vast expanse of the blue sea of Karatsu Bay stretching out to the horizon. The observation deck at the top of the mountain offers an unobstructed panoramic view of the coastline, where the gently curving shore meets the deep green of the nearby Nijinomatsubara pine forest. The air here is clear, and the sea breeze can be felt passing through.

The colors visible from the observatory change with the weather and time of day. During daylight, sunlight illuminates the water, while at sunset the sea turns a reddish hue. In twilight, the city lights below begin to glow. People often pause on the deck to take in these shifting scenes, watching the natural contrasts between the blue bay and the green pines come to life in different lighting.
