Yakusugi Land

Yakusugi Land is a large natural park located in Anbo, Yakushima Town, Kumage District, Kagoshima Prefecture. Situated deep in the mountains, the park features primeval forest scenery where visitors can observe ancient trees that have stood for hundreds or even thousands of years. Sunlight filters through the gaps in the overhead canopy, illuminating the forest floor.

Within the park, hiking courses run alongside streams covered in moss, offering routes that cater to different levels of physical ability and time availability. Some sections include wooden walkways and sturdy bridges, allowing visitors to walk while focusing on the surrounding scenery.

The environment is characterized by a continuation of trees and water features. Clear streams flow with a gentle babble, accompanied by the sounds of rustling leaves and birdsong. From the towering ancient trees above to the plants growing at ground level, the park provides an opportunity to observe the island’s unique ecosystem closely.
